FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

ABOUT THE REVIEW EDITIONS

ARE THE GUIDE AND WORKBOOK REALLY FREE?

Yes. Both are available at no charge during the review period while feedback from friends, readers, and professionals helps shape the final published editions.

WHAT KIND OF FEEDBACK IS HELPFUL?

Tell us what is clear, confusing, missing, repetitive, or difficult to use. You do not need to complete the entire Workbook before sharing an observation.

USING THE GUIDE & WORKBOOK

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE GUIDE AND WORKBOOK?

The Guide explains concepts, decisions, and tradeoffs. The 180-page Workbook gives those decisions a structured place to live: names, locations, roles, wishes, action lists, survivor steps, and annual review.

IS THE WORKBOOK FILLABLE?

Yes. It is a fillable and printable PDF. Complete it on your computer or print it and write by hand.

DO I HAVE TO FINISH EVERYTHING AT ONCE?

No. Start with the people who should be called, legal authority, healthcare wishes, and where essential documents live. A usable 70% complete plan beats a perfect unfinished plan.

PRIVACY & SHARING

HOW SHOULD I HANDLE PASSWORDS AND OTHER SECRETS?

Keep the map here and the keys somewhere safer. Do not record passwords, PINs, recovery codes, seed phrases, private keys, full Social Security numbers, or safe combinations in the Workbook. Record where secure access instructions are stored.

WHO SHOULD KNOW WHERE MY PLAN IS?

Tell at least two trusted people where the Workbook and secure access instructions are kept. A plan cannot help if nobody can find it.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I UPDATE IT?

Review it at least annually and after a move, marriage, divorce, death, new account, new property, major diagnosis, or a change in decision-maker.

LEGAL & MEDICAL LIMITS

IS DEATH HAPPENS A LEGAL DOCUMENT OR LEGAL ADVICE?

No. It provides educational and organizational information. It does not create or replace wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives, beneficiary designations, deeds, medical orders, or professional advice.

IS THE CONTENT U.S.-FOCUSED?

Yes. Laws, forms, medical orders, and platform rules vary by state and change over time. Use current state-specific forms and qualified legal, tax, financial, and healthcare professionals when appropriate.
